Frankfurt-Hahn Airport is based 120 kilometres from Frankfurt and is a small airport that is utilised mostly by the low cost airline Ryanair. Ryair and other low cost carriers really changed the face of travel for many of these smaller airports over the last decade and the airport now sees passenger numbers much greater than before its arrival. Other airlines operating from the airport are Wizz Air and Iceland Express. Ryanair has by far the most destinations and routes to this airport, with approximately 40 different destinations flying in and out of the airport weekly.
There is car hire available from the airport but it is limited due to its small size. As with any of the smaller airports we do recommend that you book your car rental in advance of your travel plans to ensure that you are able to get a vehicle as soon as you arrive. By waiting till you arrive at the airport you run the risk of lack of availability. The Internet and online booking has made reserving your car hire in advance so easy that there really is no reason to leave it to chance. You will often find that by booking online you get the best deal as well. Being quite remotely located car rental is really a must for this airport as most travellers want to go on to Frankfurt itself so make sure you do not get a shock on arrival and book your car in advance. Then you can relax, enjoy the flight and land knowing your car is ready and waiting for you.
